Everyday at Life's Choices we see young men and women who have bought the lie of a culture that says, "Everyone is doing it." We find that we just want to scream, "NO not everyone is doing it and you do not have to do it either." Of course we are talking about sex! Everyday we see clients who have believed that somehow when they make the life altering decision to have sex outside of marriage there are no consequences.
We live in a world where young people are bombarded with TV, internet, cell phones with texting capabilities, movies and books that are filled with sexual tones. What they do not know or what no one is willing to tell them is, "Sex can kill you!" We have millions of parents who believe that birth control is the answer. If they can prevent pregnancy then that is all that matters. Again, we want to scream, "What about all of the STD's that your son or daughter can contract."
What I believe it boils down to is education. Parents need to be educated, students need to be educated and in many cases the church needs to be educated in this area. God created sex and His desire is for it to be enjoyed between a husband and a wife.
At Life's Choices we want our clients to realize that they cannot make a decision to have a sexual relationship outside of marriage and not pay; physically, spiritually and emotionally. We want them to know the truth that is in the Word of God. We want them to know that He desires for them to live a lifestyle of purity. We teach them how they can obtain a lifestyle of purity by the way they dress, in the music they choose to listen to and the movies they are watching.
Imagine a culture of young people that would actually make a commitment to purity. Not only would we see a drastic drop in the number of teenagers who contract STD's, but what would happen to the abortion numbers? Since 95% of abortions are performed for unplanned pregnancies that number would drop as well.
We may not see a change in the law that allows abortion, however what is we could Change a Culture and Change America! Will you begin to pray with us as we battle for the souls of those who walk through our door and the lives of their unborn children?
I pray for our youth to be shown love, understanding, and patience. For them to feel significant, needed and be shown how important and special they are. This would help build their self esteem and help them feel confident, and not feel a need to turn to drugs, alcohol, or sex in order to fill their empty soul. God's Word, love and guidance can help us help our youth
